One of my favorite places to get things done are coffee shops. As I work on this, I can’t help but notice a table of ten seniors and the tremendous sense of community they are sharing over a cup of java.
Wouldn’t it be great if every workplace had a sense of community and friendship?
They do exist, right?
They do, but your first priority is to understand what you are looking for and the direction you want to go.
A career choice is more than just paying the bills and putting food on the table.
You deserve to spend your days doing work you enjoy, and your career should align with your values and goals.
You owe it to yourself to find within you the courage to change your career direction and work with folks that provide the community of friendship you desire.
Here are a couple of things for you:
- Take your time and think carefully about your values and determine what matter to you.
- Take small steps towards the life you crave. You may want to run but evaluate what brings you joy and fulfillment.
- Believe in yourself and trust your instincts and your ability to succeed.
The career path you choose is one of the most important decisions you make in life. After all, most of your waking hours each year are spent at work.
Evaluate and choose something that will help you be your best you and provide the community of friendship you desire.
